A House of Pomegranates by Oscar Wilde. This is the first, 1891 edition of which only 1000 copies were printed. These fairy tales were illustrated by Charles Ricketts with plates by his partner Charles Shannon. As is typical of this edition, all the plates are faded. There is light foxing throughout. Quarter green cloth and decorative orange/brown cloth boards with some wear.

The spine has been rebacked and the hinges have been strengthened professionally as can be seen in the photo of the endpapers. The result is that this edition is secure  and preserved unlike the bindings of many other versions of this edition. A good to very good copy.
