A House of Pomegranates by Oscar Wilde. This is the first, 1891 edition of which only 1000 copies were printed. These fairy tales were illustrated by Charles Ricketts with plates by his partner Charles Shannon. As is typical of this edition, all the plates are faded. There is light foxing throughout. Quarter green cloth and decorative orange/brown cloth boards with wear to edges and top and bottom of spine. A superficial tear to edge of quarter green cloth about 2 cm vertically on one side with no effect on integrity of the spine. Pictorial end-papers with slight wear to edges of free-front page. Published by James R. Osgood Mcilvaine, 158 pps Previous owner's name and 1902 date on half-title page.
