A Monograph of the British Nudibranchiate Molluscaby Joshua Alder and Albany Hancock. While the title page indicates this was published in 1845 by the Ray Society, this was, in fact, the date the first of seven parts were completed, the last being completed in 1855 and all are in this volume. A later edition in 1910 had eight parts. The cover is full calf with gilt edging on the boards. The spine has gilt lettering and decorations. The top and bottom of the spine have slight losses and there is some slight wear on the boards generally. The page edges are patterned and the end-papers are marbled. There is some slight foxing throughout more obvious on the title and half-title page. There is a stain on the top of the rear end-paper.There is some creasing in the gutter of one pair of pages only as shown in the photos. The illustrations are wonderful with what are probably hand-painted ones on some pages. Two of the photos show where the colour from some of these images has stained the adjacent page slightly in the shape of the original pattern. A very good copy. This is a large book 255x335x50
