Australia's First Preacher byJames Bonwick. This hard-cover book was about the first chaplain of New South Wales, Rev. Richard Johnson. What makes this so interesting are the annotations and numerous newspaper clippings attached to the book. The free front page has the name of Owen Blacket almost certainly the grand-son of Edmund Blacket who no doubt designed a number of the churches referenced in some of the clippings (largely first two decades of the twentieth century). On the opposite page is a dedication from another Blacket (Gladys) who gave this book to a Dr C.H. Curry in 1955. The cover is a burgundy red with some discolouration due to a stain on the bottom of the front. The title on the spine is gilt and there is some slight fraying around the edges of the cover. The covers are well attached with some slight cracks to the hinges and browning of the pages. 264 pps. 130x190x22. There is a fold-out after p 210 included.
