Gatherings of a Naturalist in Australasia by George Bennett, first edition. This was published by John van Voorst in 1860.  This has a blindstamped cloth cover which has some soiling and fading as is usual. The end-papers have been replaced and the boards and spine are original but rebacked. There is a previous owner's name on the title page and there is some spotting and browning through-out. The stunning hand-painted eight chromolithographs are present. The fantastic picture of the platypus (called an Australian water-mole in the book) is shown above. Overall this book is tight and in very good condition.
