Little Dorrit by Charles Dickens, first edition, first impression. !857. This is the illustrated hard-cover version with the three features which identify it as a first impression. Published by Bradbury and Evans with illustrations by H.K.Browne. The cover shows marbled boards and 3/4 leather binding. There are gilt decorations and lettering, largely on the spine. The edges and the boards show some wear. The end-papers are marbled and at the front and back the hinges have a neat repair with black cloth tape. The text block edges show marbling but has faded somewhat.An early blank page is inscribed with "to Lady Henderson". The pages of text show very light toning and are in very good condition. As with all these edtions the pages with illustrations and the title page with an illustration show marked foxing around the picture and on the back blank page.More photos are available on request.
