The Story of Jack and the Giants, illustrated by Richard Doyle, 1851, A hard-cover, first edition of this book which had black and white illustrations (35). Engraved by G. and E. Dalziel, published by Cundall & Addey. The later versions had some colour illustrations. This edition appears to be much rarer.The original cover is light brown cloth with embossing and well preserved gilt lettering and a knight slaying a dragon (not easily seen in the photograph). There is some light soiling to the covers, There are new endpapers.There are gilt edges. There is some light foxing throughout.Some faint pencil marks on the end-papers and a contemporary small book-sellers label inside the front cover. The illustrations are superb.  A very nice copy. 56 pps. 16.5x22
