There are 23 chromatic prints (the list of illiustrations has omitted the Black Polands  page 158) and 29 wood engravings and two illustrations have incorrect page numbers. The illustrations are complete with vivid colours. The binding is contemporary brown leather with some black leather inserts with gilded lettering on the spine. The last page (323) has had a repair to reattach it. The cover has light wear.There is some light scattered foxing more obvious on the blank back of the illustration pages.
